The mechanically fastened installation system is not dependent on a traditional mortar bed, which allows STONETILE installation to continue in conditions where conventional mortar-based masonry installation may be restricted. All sealants, membranes, and other installation materials must still be used within their manufacturer-specified temperature ranges.

Panels may be wet-cut or dry-cut using a diamond blade. Appropriate dust-control practices and personal protective equipment should be used, and exposed cut edges should be finished as required by the installation instructions.

Joints are sealed with the polyurethane sealant specified by STONETILE and finished with mineral sand while the sealant is wet to create the required textured finish. Refer to current STONETILE technical documentation for sealant requirements.

As with most concrete and masonry claddings, its R-value on its own is minimal — the energy performance of a wall comes from the insulation, air barrier, and vapour barrier specified in the wall assembly behind it, not from the cladding layer.
