FAQ
GENERAL
What is Stonetile?
Stonetile is a premium architectural cladding system that combines the beauty of natural stone with the durability and efficiency of engineered concrete. Unlike traditional masonry, Stonetile features a mechanical fastening system, eliminating the need for mortar and allowing for year-round installation in any climate.
Designed to withstand the elements, Stonetile incorporates a patented built-in rainscreen system that creates a continuous airspace between the stone and the building, allowing moisture to escape and reducing the risk of wood rot or mold.
With a range of styles suited for both classic and contemporary architecture, Stonetile offers a cost-effective, long-term exterior solution without compromising on aesthetics or performance.
How long will Stonetile last?
Stonetile is made from high-density limestone concrete, a material known for its durability and resistance to UV exposure. Like natural stone, it can withstand the elements, but proper installation—including flashing and moisture management—is essential to prevent damage from repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Our first installations, completed over 30 years ago, show no detectable change, and Stonetile is designed to provide long-term performance with minimal maintenance. We back our product with a 25-year warranty, ensuring reliability for years to come.
What maintenance is required?
Maintenance is not required.
Will it match with my existing siding?
Stonetile will add beauty to a home where large partitions of the home feature another siding products such as Stucco, Vinyl, fiber board, brick etc. Great results can be achieved with existing stucco. Moldings and quioning can be installed without removing the stucco. A Stonetile representative will know if an existing product needs to be removed.
Will it match with my existing style of my home?
Yes. Stonetile offers a wide range of profiles, textures, and moldings, making it easy to complement any architectural style—from traditional to contemporary. Selecting the right details, such as moldings and accessories, ensures a cohesive look. For example, ornate Baroque moldings are best suited for classical designs, while simpler profiles work well for modern-style homes.
With versatile design options and customizable elements, Stonetile allows you to achieve a seamless, high-end finish that enhances your home’s existing character.
TECHNICAL
Why is there a patent on Stonetile?
Can Stonetile be painted?
Yes, Stonetile can be painted using a high-quality acrylic latex paint. However, our products are designed with natural, integral colors that provide long-lasting beauty without the need for painting. If a custom colour is desired, the rainscreen system allows for proper ventilation and drainage, ensuring that paint adheres well and resists peeling on vertical surfaces.
For best results, we recommend consulting a professional for surface preparation and paint selection.
Do all the tiles have to be fastened to the studs?
No, Stonetile is securely fastened directly to plywood or OSB sheathing using 1” #8 screws, ensuring a strong and stable installation without requiring attachment to studs.
What is Stonetile made of?
Stonetile is made from high-density limestone concrete, with locally sourced crushed limestone aggregate as its primary ingredient. This ensures exceptional durability, strength, and a natural stone appearance while maintaining high-quality production standards.
